Tuesday

Regret fell like acid rain
Pooled in the parking lots of your mind
Reflected your hope and shame
But you forget her name
Only call her
Tuesday

Tuesday like the days you can’t forget
Timeless, precious like the day you met
She’s just Tuesday in your mind
Somehow your best and longest day
Wrecking all senses of space and time
Shaking and waking you out of your ways

The skies were perfect like her eyes
Crystalline, brilliant like a fairy tale
You stopped the world, hit rewind
But you forgot her name
Only call her
Tuesday

Tuesday like the days you can’t forget
Timeless, precious like the day you met
She’s just Tuesday in your mind
Somehow your best and longest day
Wrecking all senses of space and time
Shaking and waking you out of your ways

Tuesday
She came back home
Wednesday
She left you behind
Thursday
She kissed your hand
Friday
She slipped through your fingers
Saturday
Her memory lingers
Sunday, Monday
You’ve forgotten

But Tuesday, she comes back home
Swears she’ll never leave you alone

Tuesday like the days you can’t forget
Timeless, precious like the day you met
She’s just Tuesday in your mind
Somehow your best and longest day
Wrecking all senses of space and time
Shaking and waking you out of your ways

Timeless, precious like the day you met
All those moments you’ll never forget
But you can’t remember her name
Only call her Tuesday

Caged

I want to wake up in a place
Where no one knows my face
Where no one can where it began
And no one will judge me for who I am
I want to wake up without tears
Forgive these last few years
How I’ve become sour in your shadow
Wading in your thoughts, so cold and shallow

But you beg me to stay
Say there’s no other way
And in your mind, maybe it’s true
But I have no respect left for you
Still, you’re begging me to stay
You only beg me to stay
When I’m walking away

I still dream of a man
Who will accept my faults
Believe in my castles of sand
Llove and cherish my secret thoughts
I want to wake up without guilt
Without regret, loss, or shame
To destroy this mountain we both built
As a result of your twisted little game

But you beg me to stay
Say there’s no other way
And in your mind, maybe it’s true
But I have no respect left for you
Still, you’re begging me to stay
You only beg me to stay
When I’m walking away

You caged a bird then shut the world out
You caged a bird then shut the world out

Born of a Raindrop

Freeze, melt, evaporate
The cycle repeats
Vaporize, float, condensate
All within reach
Born inside of a raindrop
Washed up on your beach

Collected, sampled, tested
Until your wits were bested
The element of purity
Plucked from her obscurity
A thing more adaptable
A thing so muteable
A Queen Of Ice
If you so choose
A Sprite of Vapors
If it suits your muse

Oh but I am temperamental
I dislike frequently changing my form
But I’ll always try, and my reception will be warm

Freeze, melt, evaporate
The cycle repeats
Vaporize, float, condensate
All within reach
Born inside of a raindrop
Washed up on your beach

A Work in Progress (2013)

There’s hope in these lungs
A song in a wheezed sigh
A dreamscape behind blind eyes
Beauty in the wretched ones
The tale is never what it seems
All fairies and backlit canopy skies
